Internode boosts East Coast enterprise appeal
With a high-speed national network and dedicated international links to the US and Asia, Internode has gained a strong reputation as a responsive service provider for enterprise organisations. Its increased NSW data centre capacity and the launch of Extreme SHDSL services further strengthen this credibility.
In a dedicated section of the world-class Global Switch data centre at Ultimo, Internode has established a secure, caged area that offers guaranteed 24-hour access for Internode and its customers with equipment stored there. Internode offers server slots in full, half and one-third rack configurations.
Internode's Extreme SHDSL (Symmetric High-speed Digital Subscriber Line) services deliver both downstream and upstream Internet access at guaranteed speeds from five to 40 megabits per second (Mbps). This fully-symmetrical service is for businesses that have outgrown the uplink capacity of their ADSL2+ Internet connection, but find optical fibre Ethernet alternatives too expensive.
National Sales Manager Daryl Knight said Internode was committed to expanding its service offerings to the East Coast enterprise market. "Committing to our own data centre footprint within one of the best facilities in Australia was a logical step in delivering customers what they've asked us for," he said.
"Access to dedicated data centre capacity is a bonus both for Internode and for our channel partners, systems integrators who use Internode as an enabler in the delivery of solutions for their customers."
"The launch of Extreme SHDSL services in Sydney and Melbourne guarantees our customers the high-speed two-way Internet access increasingly needed by businesses for next generation applications such as IP Telephony, Internet Virtual Private Networks, onsite web services and IP videoconferencing."
The Sydney exchanges from which Internode Extreme SHDSL services are available are:
- Haymarket;
- Glebe;
- Pitt Street;
- North Ryde;
- City South; and
- Kent Street.
The Melbourne exchanges with Extreme SHDSL services are Batman, Lonsdale, and Exhibition.
Internode Extreme SHDSL is based on the IEEE 802.3ah global standards, often called 'Ethernet over Copper' or 'Ethernet in the First Mile'. Extreme SHDSL uses as many as eight bonded copper pairs, each running Extended Symmetrical High-speed Digital Subscriber Line (E-SHDSL) at more than 5 Mbps per pair. Thus, a 10 Mbps Extreme SHDSL service transfers data at 10 Mbps in both directions 24x7.
Internode Extreme SHDSL services start at 5 Mbps and scale all the way to 40 Mbps. Prices range from $700 per month for a 5 Mbps service with a 25-gigabyte download quota to a completely unlimited 40 Mbps service for $4000 a month.
