Easy Broadband ADSL2+ coverage boosted
Internode Managing Director Simon Hackett said the plan's extended high speed coverage to more than 550 'Zone 1' Telstra exchanges could now offer their highest speed to about 70 per cent of the Australian population. “This makes Internode’s affordable, high quota, high performance broadband available at top speeds to many more people than ever before," he said.
As Internode's most popular broadband service, Internode Easy Broadband is a jargon-free plan designed for customers who want the best value Internet access they can get, with a huge 50-gigabyte (GB) data quota and no confusing choices about networks, speeds or carriers.
The new Internode Easy Broadband service costs just $49.95 per month if bundled with NodeLine, the Internode dial-tone voice service offering. It costs $59.95 per month if customers choose a third party voice phone service.
The new version of this plan also doubles the over-quota shaping speeds for all new customers to 128 kilobits per second, for both downloads and uploads.
Where the service is deployed using Internode-direct ADSL2+ ports, Internode has also enhanced the plan by making ADSL2+ Annex M (up to 2.5 megabits per second upstream) available at no extra cost.
Mr. Hackett said the huge increase in high-speed broadband reach was expected to increase demand for Internode Easy Broadband. “We‘ve increased our ADSL2+ exchange coverage for Easy Broadband to more than 550 exchanges around Australia, including all exchanges where 'competitive' ADSL2+ DSLAM providers are present," he said.
Importantly, this new high speed coverage includes sub-exchanges and RIM-connected customers in the exchange service areas concerned, and not just services connected to the main exchange. Some sub-exchange and RIM locations do not have ADSL2+ hardware installed, and in those cases the service will be delivered as an ‘Up to 8 Megabits per second’ ADSL1 service.
The coverage zone and speed offered by the new Internode Easy Broadband, for any existing or potential customer location, can be easily checked online, using our ADSL coverage checker.
Existing Internode Easy Broadband services have been renamed to Internode Easy Broadband Classic. All new signups to Internode Easy Broadband will be provisioned with the new version of the plan.
Mr. Hackett said customers on the 'Classic' plan were welcome to remain on their current plan and conditions or use the Internode online plan changer to move to the new version of Internode Easy Broadband. "The online coverage checker will show the speeds available on the new plan at any existing location," he said.
Simon Hackett has posted a blog explaining the new plan in detail on the Internode blog.
Concurrently, Internode has revised its Fast plans, which offer a wide range of download quotas and price point choices, and which are nationally available at fast ADSL2+/ADSL1 speeds. Customers on existing Fast plans may remain on their existing plans or move to a new Fast plan via the online plan changer.
