Internode adds Billion to IPTV-ready router line-up
The Billion BiPAC 7800N and 7800NL ADSL2+ routers deliver high-speed 802.11n Wireless networks protected by WPA2 security, support both IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) as well as IPv4 and come backed by a two-year warranty.
With simple configuration and high-speed throughput, both the Billion BiPAC 7800N and 7800NL are IPTV-ready, fully supported by Internode for its Fetch TV TV/video-over-IP service.
Internode is selling the Billion BiPAC 7800NL, which includes a four-port 10/100 megabit per second (Mbps) switch for $159, and the BiPAC 7800N, which incorporates a four-port gigabit switch, for $199.
As well as an ADSL WAN port, Billion’s BiPAC 7800N has an Ethernet WAN capability, making this unit Fibre to the Home-ready, so there’s no need to change the router when the NBN arrives in your suburb. Last month, leading consumer tech reviews site CNET Australia presented the Billion BiPAC 7800N router with a "Best of 2010" award that praises its performance, features and value for money.
Internode product manager Jim Kellett said the BiPAC 7800 series routers fitted nicely in the company’s product range. "They plug the gap between the entry-level NetComm NB6Plus4W device and the industry-leading FRITZ!Box routers," he said.
"With today’s BiPAC 7800 series launch, Internode can now offer its customer IPv6-capable, IPTV-ready routers that meet every requirement at every price point."
Billion products are distributed nationally by specialist broadband device distributor PCRange.
PCRange CEO Raaj Menon said Billion’s BiPAC 7800 series had been the company’s best selling routers during the run-up to Christmas and New Year. "For their price point, they are spectacularly well-configured devices and they’re very reliable," he said.
"Their real value is that these devices are future-proof, handling both IPv6 and IPTV without a problem."
