IPv6 use tops 5% of Internode customers
Speaking at the IPv6 Summit held this week in Melbourne, Internode founder Simon Hackett revealed this latest milestone of the company's IPv6 deployment journey.
This IPv6 adoption rate shows that the number of Internode customers actively using IPv6 has more than doubled in the past four months, since Internode reported a two per cent IPv6 adoption level for the 'World IPv6 Launch' event held on June 6 (http://www.worldipv6launch.org).
Since January 2012, all new Internode customer connections have been IPv6-enabled. All customer access routers now sold by Internode are also IPv6-enabled 'out of the box'.
Simon Hackett said these initiatives were driving increased adoption of IPv6 across the Internode network "in a seamless, future-proof manner". "This strong and rising adoption rate shows that both customers and networks are ready and that IPv6 is now a mature and reliable aspect of Internet access," he said.
"Internode is proud to maintain our national leadership position in the seamless deployment of IPv6, offering IPv6 'on demand' to all existing customers and enabling IPv6 by default for all new customer connections."
Last week, Internode was also acknowledged for its long term IPv6 deployment leadership when it received an Australia & New Zealand Internet Award (ANZIA) for its work delivering IPv6 in Australia.
