Sirens ring for Internode's Klingon geek chic
The Internode campaign, dubbed "The Geekiest Promo in the Universe", this week won the third round of the 2014 Siren Awards, Australia's pre-eminent radio advertising awards.
Developed by Perth-based Marketforce, Internode's radio and television advertising campaign featured Klingons, the leathery, ridge-headed warrior race of aliens that was spawned by the Star Trek TV series.
The Klingon campaign ads challenged listeners to translate messages from Klingon, Elvish (Lord of the Rings) or Dothraki (Game of Thrones) to save $100 when they signed up with Internode.
Internode founder Simon Hackett described the Klingon advertising campaign as fun. "Marketforce has really 'got' the brand truth for Internode - and amplified it," he said.
"Geeks and Internode have always gone together - and somehow geeks and science fiction is an unbreakable pairing too. This campaign joins those worlds together wonderfully - and we're all proud of the result. It's a hoot!"
'IwlIj jachjaj is "cheers" in Klingon - literally it means "May your blood scream!"
