Getting connected to the NBN
Because the NBN uses a mix of technologies, the connection process depends which technology is available to you. To find out what will be rolled out in your area, check our NBN Coverage.
Once you know what will be available in your area, read on to learn more about getting connected. If you have any questions, contact our NBN team on 1300 NBN NOW (1300 626 669).
Fibre to the Premises
A fibre-optic cable connects directly to your premises. You'll need special equipment installed outside and inside your premises.

Fibre to the Node/Fibre to the Building
Fibre-optic cables connect to your building or a node in your street (or a street nearby), and existing copper cables deliver broadband to your premises.

Fibre to the Curb
Fibre-optic cables connect to a node in a communications pit in your street, and existing copper cables deliver broadband to the NBN Connection Device in your premises.

Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial
In HFC areas, a fibre optic cable connects to an optical node, then coaxial cable connects the node to the NBN Network Termination Device in your premises.

Fixed-Wireless
In Fixed-Wireless areas, an antenna installed on your roof will receive a wireless signal from your local NBN wireless tower.
